Cause & Effect is committed to helping our clients prosper, provide and be recognized.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Many of Canada’s most successful companies have realized that it’s no longer acceptable to just do well by doing good. It’s expected—by consumers, by shareholders, by employees, by the public at large. It’s also a sound long-term investment.

Over the last two decades, consumer and market research has shown that the benefits of a company’s investment in the community can lead to an enhanced corporate reputation, strengthen employee commitment, create stronger and more vibrant communities, and increase customer loyalty to a brand.

In addition to the expectation by the public for greater corporate social responsibility, the widely reported cut-back in government spending and staffing has also put pressure on everyone involved; non-profit organizations, communities, individuals, and last but not least, business.

By harnessing tangible communication tools Cause&Effect assists community active companies in their cause-related initiatives or with the strategic support they may need to assist designated not-for-profit organizations - which in turn provides valuable recognition for all concerned.

A Voice for the Charitable Community

To reach those they support and those whose support they need, not-for-profit organizations need a voice. Consumers and companies are inundated with requests from charitable organizations for their support, and in this highly competitive atmosphere (full of other organizations also doing worthy work in our community!), it’s critical that organizations express their purpose in a way that’s meaningful to those they are trying to influence. And in the long term it’s more than just receiving a cheque—it’s about cultivating a relationship between the benefactor and the organization.

As these organizations work tirelessly and passionately they often lack the communication tools to build a bridge with those who can help them to both prosper and provide. This may include branding the organizations purpose and personality, tangible communications tools such as video or print material, or harnessing the web’s unique ability to move consumers from awareness (Cause) to action (Effect).

Cause&Effect goes the extra mile in understanding the communication needs of the organizations we work with – from in-depth needs analysis to planning, from recommending the right media or tools, to the production of the finished material. All of which depends on what the organization is trying to accomplish while keeping the message clean, simple and consistent.

"Information is giving out. Communication is getting through."

John Dalziel

John Dalziel is Principal and Executive Director of Cause&Effect Communications, a social marketing company committed to helping community-active companies and not-for-profit organizations to prosper, provide and be recognized.

It was John’s extensive background in broadcast marketing and sales, media production, product marketing, and his experience as Founder of the Kids Up Front Foundation, that led him to the launch of Cause&Effect in the Fall of 2003.

Prior to starting Cause&Effect, John held management positions with the Corus Radio Network, Deep Sky, a marketing solutions division of Corus Radio, KISS FM Calgary, Alberta Lotteries, and Creative Broadcast Group Vancouver (as Principal).

One of John’s most personal and rewarding projects has been the Kids Up Front Foundation, an organization that provides world-class entertainment for children and families who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity. As the Founder and first President of the organization, John gave a year of his career to develop and coordinate the execution of a strategic business plan and provide leadership in all aspects of the organization.

Since the launch of Kids Up Front in 2000, over 300,000 kids and families in need have attended events, with an estimated ticket value of well over $3.5 Million. In 2003, the organization expanded to Edmonton and launched in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver in June 2004, where John serves as President.

John is a Past-President of The Advertising Club of Edmonton, has served as a Director and Vice President of Northern Light Theatre, Edmonton, Alberta, and Chaired the Radio Marketing Bureau Sales Advisory Council in Calgary, Alberta.

He and his wife Vicki have resided in both Vancouver and Salt Spring Island, British Columbia since 2001.
